Located in the Mission Bay area of San Diego, Belmont Park is one of America’s few historic oceanfront amusement parks that brings several thousand visitors each year. The park was originally developed by John D. Spreckels in 1925 and it opened during July 4th to celebrate American’s Independence.  There are several attractions and rides that still remain original from 1925.  Many of those attractions include the Gaint Dipper, a wooden roller coaster that is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Another one of the many historic attractions that make Mission Bay Park such a family friendly place is the Plunge, an indoor swimming pool.  When it originally opened the Plunge was a salt water pool but has now been converted to a fresh water pool.  The Liberty Carosel is another main attraction in the park as well as the recentely opened Wave House.  The Wave House has now become one of the favorite attractions of the park with wave pool that allows visitor to test their surfing skills in front of a live audience.
