Chef Brian Malarkey has achieved success once again with his uncanny ability of taking American cuisine and putting his own signature twist to it. By teaming up with EnDev’s famous James Brennan and interior designer Thomas Schoos, success was inevitable. Although Malarkey has already proven his ability as a chef in the past six years as Executive Chef of the Oceaniare Seafood Room, he still feels the need to impress with his flair for turning ordinary into spectacular. After being a finalist on Bravo’s “Top Chef 3 Miami” and being named San Diego’s Best Chef in 2009, Malarkey is definitely up for the challenge with his first restaurant, Searsucker. A casual yet elegant dining atmosphere will greet you as you walk into a cozy setting of unique but simple decorations. Oriental rugs, patterns of textured animals, comfortable couches and the words “Eat” on the wall will soon put you at ease and into a state of hunger.
Located in the Gaslamp District in Downtown San Diego, Searsucker offers succulent food derived from American classic favorites. By turning ordinary fries into “Duck Fat Garlic Fries”, we can see that Malarkey is full of surprises when he cooks in his open kitchen that all the guests can enjoy from their seats in the dining area. The menu at Searsucker offers simplicity when choosing from the seven sections that’s listed. It is easy to understand why they named the sections as they did when you start ordering. Bites, Smalls, Greens, Ocean, Ranch, Farm and “And” are self-descriptive as you read them. There is a “Wow” factor in everything that you order here. From the Cheddar Puffers that are complimentary to the Local Shark that is barbecued and served with onions and bleu cheese, you are sure to find dishes with zest and character.
Searsucker is sure to be a winner for uniqueness, great cuisine and affordability. Whether you’re dining alone or dining with a crowd, this is one place that will make you feel welcome. With the opening of Searsucker, it won’t be long before all the other San Diego Restaurants are left behind.

Bon Appétit- French Cuisine in Rancho Santa Fe
Located in beautiful Rancho Santa Fe, Mille Fleurs is a local favorite around San Diego County. This French Cuisine restaurant has an array of delicious dishes prepared by Executive Chef Martin Woesle. The restaurant offers a full bar, elegant lounge, a very inviting happy hour menu and also banquet and private rooms for large groups. The interior décor of Mille Fleurs is a vivacious mélange of fireplaces and tapestries with a piano bar that charms several musical types of jazz tunes desirable for an after-dinner martini. Many of the local affluent gourmands visit this elegantly designed restaurant for hearty, gourmet, French inspired dishes that extend far beyond the ordinary.
Each dish prepared by the chef is an exquisite pastiche of tastes, like the honey-glazed Australian lamb chops with multicolored turnips and blue cheese gratin. Other favorite dishes also include the over-roasted stuffed quails, the soft shell crab over corn and fried leeks and the grilled wild bass with mussels. It is recommended the best way to savor the taste of Chef Woesle’s selections is with the seven-course menu, which also includes in house made fruit sorbets, cheese and desserts.
